1278928 2012-06-02 06:36:00 BBC report for last financial year:

Taxpayer paying less to keep Royal Family

The Queen used funds from reserves to boost her Civil List

Queen's taxpayer funding frozen
How the Civil List is spent

The cost to the taxpayer of the Royal Family fell to 62p per person in the UK last year - a drop of 7p, according to Buckingham Palace accounts.

The total cost of keeping the monarchy decreased by £3.3m (7.9%) to £38.2m during the 2009-10 financial year.

Estimated return from an investment of £38.2m was £140.0m

Not too shabby.

As usual PCtec positive attitude prevails.

More like, they don't have to watch the performance of your silly buggers between now and November.

I other words they like the regal touch.

1278933 2012-06-02 14:40:00 Watching the three-ring circus is all that's going on here - has been actually for the past almost 4-years. I think the US wants to see a beheading or someone tossed into the tower.

The US election local events are even more interesting, with front-al and back-al stabs by opponents on TV and radio. The Federal elections are nasty, but the local elections are blood soaked and downright malevolent.

Entertainment value is somewhere between ZERO to 100% if you actually watch any of them.

Funny sidebar: beer sales are at an all-time high. Coincidence? I think not.

There are better ways to waste billions of dollars than on a single family of inbred knobs.

At the very least the old dragon should retire before she gets as potty as her partner.
and is there a problem with a bit of pomp and ceremony.
