1277983 2012-05-28 09:11:00 OK here’s one first hand.

I know a solo parent who has 4 beautiful children.

She lives half the time off the food bank.

WINZ, or someone, appointed her a Budget Manager.

She sacked the Budget Manager.

Out of a marriage break-up, or partnership, she obtained a nice Nissan People Mover.

She uses the vehicle as collateral to obtain money from a Loan Shark.

She buys Personalised Plates for the Nissan. (The Loan Shark will be so happy)

She is nearly 50 and has never worked for more than a few months in her life.

The kids are great and I can only conclude their dominant genes come from their fathers because the mother is a waste of space.

So what do we do? How the F’n hell do we handle a situation like this?

I await advice from the PC Brigade. :D

Yes I would believe them (depends on status, single, married, children, solo, etc.

No 2. Yes, I would believe them. Depending on the above circumstances of course.

It is not quantifiable, because it depends on so many different things, outgoings, health costs, travel costs, etc

1277986 2012-05-28 09:27:00 The bludgers get all they want. When it comes to genuine cases of people in need, they can't get anything from WINZ. Heard a fews years ago a mate of mine was in a difficult spot and went to get a food grant and couldn't get one. Yet they overheard somebody also in the WINZ office was getting a 42 inch TV because their family was coming to stay. The system is ****ed up.

I cracked up a few years ago now when I had to take some documents into WINZ to get my pension.

Outside pulls up a lowered Mercedes, (not the latest model) with a dude having his last draw of a smoke.

Need gas I enquire. Yeep, need a top up he responds.

Wish WINZ was around when I was young. ;)

1277987 2012-05-28 09:32:00 Just a note to add. I get by on less than $300 per week because I am good at budgeting. I have a free hold house, Sky TV basic package, 22 year old car, broadband internet. Non smoker, a few wines occasionally. No new clothes, shoes, never go to movies, or many lunches out.

I have seen what some solo parents buy, many times at the supermarket. First being disposable nappies, smokes, booze, junk food and anything else their screaming brats want! S'nuff rant for now!

How is that a "luxury"? That's needed for little kids, unless you want s.hitty kids, literally.
