| 1302437 | 2012-09-20 23:00:00 | I am trying to set this up for some fun . PC-1 connects to PC-2 with a network cable . PC-1 has a unbootable HD using PXE in the bios it boots off PC-2 (running LiveCD or Virtual) and automatically restore the HD image . Does anyone know how this can be achieved by? :thanks |

The biggest downside with some software is any data that is on the PC is automatically wiped when the PC starts up again, so you must save anything to another location, Eg: USB drive, network storage etc. Found This Software (www.horizondatasys.com) does the same thing, look at the video provided. Have not looked at the manual yet ( heaven forbid read the manual) to look at all its features. |

I figured that once files are backed up .. screw up the boot and PXE takes over and auto restores .. or that the server which has the image files, makes it active first. Be quite handy though with a 1Gbit connection. Turn on and "I walk away". |

Deleted a whole bunch of reg files at complete random, wiped out many files in the C:\windows and system32 folder - then went through dumping parts of the program folder :devil Of course the PC went to the stage of total freeze. Hit the reset button, and the program mentioned put everything back and it booted nicely, all files/folders returned. In the end the only way I could break it was to boot from a ubuntu CD, and delete the complete windows, Programs folder and all the sub folders -- that stuffed it LOL :devil :devil The other program I was thinking of was called Deep Freeze. MS used to have one called Steady State, but thats been discontinued now. |
