2012-05-31 08:54:00 | Scammers called the wrong number this weekhere (nelsonweekly.co.nz) go to page 9 the page next to Out & About to read the article. They called the Police station by mistake  | gary67 (56) | |
2012-05-31 10:34:00 | Most likely just called the number at random. Unfortunately there is more than likely not much that the Police can do because the calls come from overseas. | Bobh (5192) | |
2012-05-31 12:42:00 | They must be stepping up their efforts as we had no calls at home for a long time then just in the last couple of weeks we've been called almost every night, sometimes more than once in a night. | CYaBro (73) | |
2012-05-31 13:00:00 | They are active again here in Auckland too, I have had three more calls in recent times and they are refining their approach/getting more persistent too . I have tried the 'I have no computer' and the 'I use Linux' ploys, but they don't seem to listen, and I have also tried the up-front 'congratulations, you are caller number 35 singing same song, now plss-off you scamming bastard' option, but they don't listen to that either and try to talk on through . It seems that hanging up is probably the best response, but I think I'll try the 'please hold for just one moment please, then switch to speaker phone and say nothing more' method . That way I get to listen to the scammer wasting his or her time . I can add the 'are you still there caller? I'll with be with you shortly' module if they are really keen . I don't understand why I get so many of these calls when other PF1 members who must sit by a phone all day don't seem to enjoy the same attention . Cheers Billy 8-{)

2012-05-31 20:16:00 | I had a strange message left on my answering machine yesterday. A gentleman with an Indian accent left me a message that said, "Hello are you there, hello, hello can you hear me?". He did not leave a number so I guess I will never know who it was. I can only guess that it was a scammer. | Bobh (5192) | |
2012-05-31 21:20:00 | I think Billy gets our quota of calls as we have never had one | gary67 (56) | |
2012-05-31 22:03:00 | Next time they ring me up I'll tell them to ring this number (www.pakistanhc.org.nz) :devil | rebels181 (14841) | |

2012-05-31 22:41:00 | I have tried the 'I have no computer' and the 'I use Linux' ploys, but they don't seem to listen, and I have also tried the up-front 'congratulations, you are caller number 35 singing same song, now plss-off you scamming bastard' option, but they don't listen to that either and try to talk on through. Have you tried a Vuvuzela?
