| 52983 | 2002-06-07 09:12:00 | Susan B & Callum Hey. Yes it was the Clearnet ISP I was wanting to get rid of. it is not listed in Add/remove programmes so I brought it up in the Network section & pushed the 'Delete' This seemed to clear most of it, but, when I 'Dial up' using Xtra it gives me an error saying it is trying to connect to Clearnet. What else can I try? I also made Xtra the Home Page & deleted the Clearnet Homepage, which would come on screen at Network Connecting. On a scale of computer IL-literate thro to computer Literate I come inat 'Moron' so please bear with this Old, Grey, Wrinklie fella. Thanks John |

| 52984 | 2002-06-07 09:55:00 | Hello John, I went down to your earlier post to get a picture of what you are trying to acheive. To me it sounds like that you have 2 issues. The first is that you still have a dial connection called Clearnet. To remove that go to 'dial up networking', and delete the connection called clearnet. Secondly open outlook express, click on tools, then accounts. If you see an email accont with 'clear', highlight the clear account then click on remove. I do not have XP but have been told that these steps *should* be the same. Others with XP may correct me. Just had another thought. DO you connect to the internet by opening Internet Explorer (IE). If so open IE (work offline if it tries to connect) then click on >tools>internet options. Click on 'connections' tab and see if there are any remnants of 'Clear' there. IF so remove. Ensure that Xtra is the default settings and then make sure that 'Always dial my default connection' is checked. Hope this helps. oh yeah, one more thing. NO SELF FLAGELLATING! Unfortunately there are some that visit here that will do that for you. No need to qualify any question here. Just ask and learn. sam m |

| 52985 | 2002-06-07 12:11:00 | Hi John, Hopefully Sam's advice will have set you on the right track (thanks Sam :-) ) but if not, just post back on this thread what you are having trouble with. If you make a new thread (ie, not replying to this one) it's a bit hard to keep track of what's happening. We will be notified by email when you reply to this post so we can keep in touch. The Dial-Up Networking is in the Windows Explorer near the bottom of the 'tree' in my Windows 98 and I'm hoping you will find it there too. And we'd rather you called yourself a Newbie, not a moron. :-) |
