| 53182 | 2002-06-08 08:55:00 | Trouble when I have two files, page numbered, and I join them to make one file - various effects: no numbers, old numbers, partly numbered, etc. Is there a sure way of removing all numbering from a combined document. I know the usual Header/footer, dclick and del. Thank you for your help. |

To do this, switch to View|Normal view then go to Tools|Options|General. The Background repagination box should be ticked. Another reason could be due to having Section Breaks and differing properties for each one. If you enable paragraph markers to be viewed (hold down ctrl-shift and press *) you will see the section breaks. Each section is able to have its own formatting, eg page numbers, columns, headers or footers, etc. Someone will correct me if I am wrong but if your merged document has the same formatting throughout, you can go to File|Page Setup|Layout|Section start|Continuous. Before trying this, make a copy of your merged document to play with in case the results aren't what you want. For a document with dissimilar formatting you may have to go to each section and delete the page numbers for each one, unless someone else knows a quicker way. |
