53079 2002-06-07 23:57:00 My monitor is showing signs of being magnetized in the top left corner.
I have used the demagnetize feature in the monitor adjustment but it comes back after a couple of days.
My question is what could be causing it?
There is absolutley no magnets near the monitor. Could it be a cellphone, radio or infrared radio remote?

or is there a chance it could be a faulty monitor?

53080 2002-06-08 00:15:00 It is usually only magnets that cause it, but as you said if there are none near, mabye it could be something makeing a large magnetic field.
Heres a suggestion, take the monitor into another part of the house, deguass it with the little magnet button, and see if it appears, if it does then mabye you have cause permanent damage to your screen. There are also deguassing wands that do a much better job than the inbuilt deguassing feature, they are too expensive for you to buy but an appliance or monitor repair shop should have on, and can do it while you wait, might fix your problem.

Where are your PC Speakers? Move them away from the screen and then try again. In my experience its been the Speakers attached to my PC that's caused the magnetisation of the screen.

Who's idea was it to make PCs with speakers on the side of the monitor?

They must have a few shares in Veiwsonic or philips I suspect!
