| 53429 | 2002-06-09 11:13:00 | John, Yes, most scanners come with OCR software (Optical Character Recognition), which if something with clear print is scanned in, it'll do its best at trying to recognise all the characters and changing them into editable text in programs such as Word or notepad - then you could just cut and paste into here, although you might need to do a proof read and make sure all the words have been recognised correctly. But how do I 'Send' it to an 'F1' Post as a 'Respond' to a particular Post. The John Grieve & Telecom one is what I am aiming at. It is an article from the NZ Herald headed 'Split Lines Slow Internet Access'. It was about Telecom 'Sharing' lines in some areas, between two customers. Much like the old party lines, except you cannot hear the other Party. I know what I am trying to say, but I hope it makes sense to you. John M. |

You are talking about not quoting or 'fair dealing' you are talking about republishing an article, (in its full form including original appearance) without permission. IDG might not like it. The size of a 'picture' of a readable text page will also be pretty big. Quote from something, that's legal. Give a reference to the issue and page number of the original publication. If they have a Web site which has published it, give a link. But don't scan it and post it here. |
