53314 2002-06-09 00:53:00 Hi I have a 56k modem but constantly get really crap connections, I average a 28.8 kbps
connection and sometimes it is as low as 26kbps, the best I have ever had is about 40kbps
but that was only about once or twice.
I want to get telecom to test the line, how do the do that? Do they send a tech out?
I would also appreciate any advise that I can use to get xtra to try and do something
about it?

I live in town not out in the country.

53316 2002-06-09 07:55:00 ring telecom faults & tell them you are getting poor quality internet connections & could they do a quality check on your phone line.
they will do this from the exchange & doesnt require a technician unless there is a fault.
If a fault is found it should be covered by the line & maintainance charge on your account.

53318 2002-06-09 12:28:00 hi, just make sure that your modem is on the highest speed it can be so nothing is restricting it. You must be able to get better so it must be a software problem. go into modem properties and look to see what the speed is set to eg:

38400
57600
115200 etc
