Tghese people can call the files whatever they like. ie you can download a file caleed 'song.mp3' and it may actually be 'virus.exe'. You must be extremely careful, and virus check all files before you open them. If you use a P2P app, fine, just beware of the risks, and realise, everything may not be what it seems. Try downloading a different copy of the song. G P |

Sometimes your player won't handle the video format, tho will play the audio fine (and won't bother to tell you there's a problem). You didn't say what the file type was or what player you're using - and I don't know if WinMX is just for specific file types - but check first whether the file is showing any video properties - right-click on the file and look at the 'Properties' - and if there's nothing showing as video, you've got an audio-only file. If it does show a video property (and assuming you're using a version of Windows Media Player) * if the file type is .avi, you'll need a specific codec for the video - look at the 'Properties', it should say what it wants - if it's DivX, try www.divx.com, otherwise repost and someone might be able to help. * if the file types is .mpg or .wmv (possibly .asf or .asx), WMP v5 won't play videos based on the latest MPEG protocol - you'll need to upgrade to WMP v6 - comes with WinXP or can be got (I think) from MS Update. (WMP is supposed to go and look for updates if it can't play video, but don't rely on it.) Different story again if it's a file type other than above - may need a special player like RealPlayer or QuickTime. Good luck. |
