| 53557 | 2002-06-10 01:50:00 | Have removed & replaced FDD from Win98SE pc & drive now longer works. Win Explorer lists drive but can't read disks -> Disk not formatted. DOS -> General device failure a/f/r (or something similar). Cable is connected correctly. Have tried cable from another pc, same result. FDD works ok in other pc. MB socket appears ok. CMOS lists 3.5' 1.44mb drive & drive is found on boot. Any suggestions appreciated. |

Have reinstalled FDD & controller drivers although must be hardware related rather than Win as not working in DOD either? Is a BIOS renewal worth a try? Have had some trouble with bad blocks - some connection perhaps? |
