| 53535 | 2002-06-10 00:13:00 | I am running Windows 98SE and appear to have some shortcut problems (according to PC Doctor on call) Don`t have the neccessary credit cards to pay for them to do the repairs. Is there anyway I can fix them (whatever they are)If so how? Or is it a majorly experts job. Which I`m not. Look forward to replies, usually they have been of great help for earlier problems. Iris |

| 53537 | 2002-06-10 05:28:00 | Iris, Are you having any problems with any shortcuts? It may be something as simple as a shortcut that no longer points to a program. (Possibly a program that has been removed, but the shortcut to it is still there). If you don't use the shortcut, it doesn't matter. Most computers end up with a bit of 'dead wood' on them - it doesn't really affect the operation. If you do have a shortcut that is giving an error message, when activated, post the message and we will see what can be done. |

| 53538 | 2002-06-10 06:29:00 | Thanks for reply wuppo. Shortcut problems seem to be they are no longer on the Taskbar, next to Start. Did have Outlook Express, IE. Windows Explorer there but they vanished. Have icons on desktop but when I try to drag them down to task bar I get message asking 'do I want to update existing quick lauch file with new one' If I click yes the icon disappears from screen. Presumably I have Quick Launch Taskbar in operation as when I right click it and look at 'toolbars' Quick Launch is ticked. If I click 'create shortcut here' I get message 'can`t be done' Other icons at other end of bar are still in place. More nuisance than anything really. At least I hope it isn`t something more serious. Thanks for reply too Gordon N. Appreciate the way you people respond to problems. Iris |

| 53539 | 2002-06-10 08:06:00 | Thanks wuppo and Gordon N. Appreciate your prompt replies. Did post an answer earlier but presume it didn`t go through. If it did then I`ll have posted two replies. Anyway the problem seems to be that the Icons are no longer showing on the Taskbar, next to Start. Did have Outlook Express, IE. Windows Explorer, Show Desktop but they disappeared. Presumably I have Quick Launch task bar as when I right click it and read toolbars 'Quick Launch' is ticked. Have the icons on the desktop and when I try to drag them down to taskbar I get message 'do I want to update Quick Launch file for this' If I click Yes the icon vanishes. If I try to 'create a shortcut here' I am told it can`t be done. I can only assume I have deleted something, but what, as I didn`t find anything in the Recycle bin. It`s more of a nuisance really, at least I hope it isn`t anything more serious. Have tried Nortons Zip Rescue but that wouldn`t work. GoBack didn`t either. My computer suddenly told me I had a virus (when I removed GoBack that problem seemed to disappear. Appreciate your help. This certainly is a great place to find answers to problems.
