53786 2002-06-11 06:56:00 Just wondering, how much would a 386 or 486 computer with colour monitors and software be worth and how many people would actually want to buy them?

53787 2002-06-11 08:06:00 the software and a few bits would be worth something but i don't even recommend 486's for net use.

i wouldn't bother parting with good money on a 486 when a few hundred more dollars will get you a 500mhz machine.

53788 2002-06-11 11:39:00 The monitor may be worth something, and imaginative linux people have been known to use the old machines as gateways in networks.. I saw one used a s a stand alone virus checker once too.
comercial value??? NIL

53789 2002-06-11 22:22:00 They are nest to worthless these days too slow for internet usage or modern games etc I sold one a 386 plus 14' vga monitor for $80 the other day they are still good for word processing office duties etc email Guest (0)
53790 2002-06-12 09:47:00 They aren't that bad on the internet. My dad has a 486 and it goes quite well on the net and I used to have a 386 (about 2 years ago) with windows 95 and that worked on the internet. They're not that useless
