| 53693 | 2002-06-10 11:39:00 | I have Win98SE installed with a faulty DirectX, Over writing it with the latest version or re-intalling the OS over the top does not fix it. If I install Win XP pro over the top will it overwrite the fault, I do not want to load the OS from scratch | Guest (0) | ||
| 53694 | 2002-06-11 05:46:00 | It is generally not a good idea to try and fix something by installing a later version of Windows over it if the problem cannot be fixed by reinstalling the software currently being run. If you've got the latest Direct X then I can't see how installing WinXP will fix it as it will probably install the same Direct X. In my experience a reformat is the only way to completely cure problems like this, unfortunately. Are you sure that the problem actually is a faulty Direct X? |
