53781 2002-06-11 05:34:00 How do I install drivers from a boot disk win95 to run a cdRom through a sound card (CT2066 soundblaster) on a 486. Guest (0)
53782 2002-06-11 06:42:00 the way i've done it on some p1 systems (buggy ide2) is to put cdrom on to the same ide as hardrive, install windows, load in sound card drivers then move cdrom over to sound card ide connection.

hope that helps.

53783 2002-06-11 12:03:00 I have an installation disc which I downloaded from Creative.

Connect everything up--boot to DOS and install--it finds the soundcard and installs the drivers.

I have only ever used it to install a Creative CD drive on a Soundblaster card.

53784 2002-06-12 05:10:00 If the drive was made by Panasonic, and has the model number CR 521, 522,523, 562,or 563 (or the Creative type number CD200) it has the proprietary Creatiive interface. That is not IDE.
(The other identifier is that thse drives have a row of 4 jumpers allowing selection as drive 1,2,3, or 4. You can have 4 of these 2X drives on one interface).

If you can't get the installation disk downloaded from the Creative site, try drivershq. A google search for 'CR562 driver' might find something.

(There's a standard module for these drives in Linux, but you probably don't want to change to Linux just for the Cd).
