| 53626 | 2002-06-10 09:20:00 | To Sam M, Susan B, & Callum Hey in particular. Thanks everyone, I learnt a lot from this exercise. Yes I cleaned out 'Clearnet', Re-organised my IE & had a lot of fun. I did not, howevre, sort the OE problem. In the end I called a Techie friend who came & had a look Sunday. He tried things & in the end we re-installed XP from the Original disk (legal!). That sorted some other things out but not my E-mails. He rang Xtra Help desk to see if there was any mail in my box. After they had both stopped laughing I am told thete are 164 E-ms there, yes folks that was 1 6 4 of the little Toyotas. Together they went thro the OE/Xtra setup & guess what? My computer password was different to the one on Xtra's computer. How come?, how would I know I am new at this stuff inside that Tower Tin Box. If you recall all this started after the ram fell out. On a lighter note. When the side cover came off the Tin Box we noticed that under the Ram sockets was a little pile of sparkly dust stuff, when I touched it ,it crackled & popped. It looked suspiciously like some bits & bytes that had leaked out of the empty socket. Could this have caused the problem in the first place????? Anyway Thanks again John M |

| 53628 | 2002-06-11 02:41:00 | OK Susan B, The Ram story.I decided to clean & polish my old wooden computer desk. I got rid of all the junk & did under one piece at a time, printer, scanner etc leaving the Tower Tin Box till last. By now my Angina was Pinging' a little. I picked up the Tower Tin Box, which was heavier than I expected, & got a really hefty 'Ping'. My left arm went numb & I dropped the Tower, which fell on its side onto the floor (as did I). Obviopsly the Tower got the biggest 'Fright' as IT stopped working whereas after a while I DID, fortunately. Satisfied now Love!! Further:- In an earlier Post you said to use Newbie not Moron, OK will do. To Sam M:- You suggested 'No Self-Flaggellation'. Haven't done that in years, since I was told it sends you blind!! Regards people, John M |
