53968 2002-06-12 04:59:00 When I connect to the internet I cannot access anything. No pop email, no internet explorer etc. the only things that work are things that are directly accessing IP addresses, such as MSN messenger and some of the downloads that I have in getright. It is not a problem with the ISP as I can connect on my Mum's machine. I am running Windows 2000Pro with IE6. Would manually entering a DNS ip maybe fix it?

Cheers,
Brendon (porsche@vectorstar.net)

Right click on your connection icon in Network and Dialup Connections and select Properties.
Select the networking Tab at the top.
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to hilight
Select Properties
Check you have Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically both selected

53971 2002-06-12 05:52:00 Since you don't mention how the 2k machine is configured, too many variables .

If it uses a separate modem . .

However if you use a LAN, then . . .

Or if you are using ICS . . .
