| 53867 | 2002-06-11 09:19:00 | mike is it not possible to use files from system backup folder called cab files these go back over the last 5 days and have user dat, system dat ,win ini, system ini, is it not possible to load one from 2 days ago and overright existing files thereby having comp as it was then . the files i deleated were on the end of my profiles folder and i dont recall seeing them there before and thought they were just log files (silly me ) thanks for your time peter |

| 53868 | 2002-06-12 07:48:00 | Peter, You might well be able to restore the files from your backup cab files - I thought you meant the files off the Win 98 CD. Try using the System File Checker in Win 98 (I *think* you go Start > Run, and type 'SFC' and press Enter), and choose the option to extract Windows file, and just follow the instructions to direct it to extract the correct file. I don't use Win 98, so I can't tell you exactly how to do it, sorry. Mike. |
