53840 2002-06-11 08:25:00 Hi, I have got a HP Pavilion and it has the following modem -K56FLEX DSVD MODEM and it says on the sticker 'software upgradable fr0m 33.6 bps to 56kbs'.

What software do i need to upgrade from my current speed of 33.6 to 26kbs?

And also, where can i download this software?

53841 2002-06-11 08:54:00 You don't need software to do that, you need to go & buy a new 56kbps modem, take out your old one, and then insert the new one. You need to take apart your computer to do this though, so I would leave it to the experts.

As tweaki'e says you can upgrade your modem, if it is flash upgadeable.

First you need to establish (in most cases) the modem model, chip manufacturer and version number then, do some research as to the method/sequence to follow in installing new drivers and flashing the modems ROM with a firmware upgrade.

Some modems will curl up their toes if you get it wrong. I also imagine that HP used more than one brand or type of modem even in the same model and year of manufacture. Try your manual for your first clue then hit the internet.

Usefull site to look at: <www.modem-help.co.uk

I would look at a few sites for updated modem drivers to increase the efficiency of your modem.

First try the HP site

welcome.hp.com

or

welcome.hp.com

enter your PC model and search for software/driver upgrades.

If no joy there, take a look on the Modem Site for info

808hi.com

or look on Google (www.google.com)

Good Luck
