| 54049 | 2002-06-12 09:55:00 | A friend of mine has Win 98se, His problem is when he tries to connect it either drop out or more to the point it wont connect, after a lot of phone calles to Xtra and deleting all the Communications and Winsock then reinstalling it all again and reseting the Protocol it only worked for about 10 minutes and it said the Communications is not configed. | 54050 | 2002-06-12 17:05:00 | One thing that plagues internet connections is telephone line noise. Any small line noise will cause a disco, slow connect or no connect. Try ringing Telecom faults and get them to do a noise check on your line or on your normal phone dial 137 then hang up. Your phone will then ring and you will get an empty line. Listen for 5 or 10 minutes for any pop or hiss. This sometimes won't be audible for a few minutes after you've started the test so listen for as long as you can. If there is noise, get Telecom faults to fix it. Hope this helps. Cheers |
