54125 2002-06-13 01:48:00 Hi Everyone,
I am completely computer illiterate when it comes to all those abbreviated program names in registry.....

I want to weed out all the nasties from my start-up/registry etc....

Is there a site I can go to, type in the name and it will tell me what it does etc and what the program is. I thought of using Google or the Microsoft site, but are there any others that might be a help?

Thanks,CHARLIE

Gordon mentioned this website in a thread a little below yours, and should help you figure out what's what..

54127 2002-06-13 04:02:00 If you want a program to clean up invalid entries in the registry check out either

system mechanic:
<http://www.iolo.com>

jv16 power tools:
<http://www.jv16.org>

aatools:
<www.glocksoft.com

I have tried all of these apps myself but i can recommend jv16 (free) and aatools (30 day trial, but a easier to understand interface).

Both of these apps show what program is associated with what reg entry.

Hope this is of some help.
