54171 2002-06-13 06:29:00 It's called reformatting.

Some good sites to look at are here:

www.pcnineoneone.com

www.windowsreinstall.com

www.aumha.org

www.windowsreinstall.com

Take your pick! ;-)

If you let me know, I can maybe suggest something alternative. Its an easy job to reformat, but you may not need to go to that extent.

54173 2002-06-13 09:29:00 Your Hard Drive is usually drive C.
You don't say what operating system you use, but this usually works:
1. Left Click on <My Computer> to open that window.
2. Right click on 'HDD C' or your drive 'C'.
3. Go down that window until you see 'Format'
4. Left click.
Note: you will see several warnings that you will delete all drive contents.
5. Format the drive.
6. Instal Operating System.
7. Instal Antivirus first after that.
8. Instal Firewall next. (Zonealarm is free for private use)
9. Instal Ad-Aware <www.lavasoft.com> this allows tracking and deletion of SPYWARE, which has probably corrupted your system.
10. Purchase Roxio Go-Back Pro v 3.0 <www.Roxio.com> NOT FOR WinXP though. Instal it, can recover an almost totally corrupted system in most cases, but has to be installed on a good system only.
After that instal all other software in the usual way.
Cheers
