54154 2002-06-13 03:57:00 Is it normal for a floppy drive when everytime I switch on the computer the little led is always on or not? If not how do I trun it off. I got an ABIT BD7, P4 1.8, Leadtek WinFast GeForce 4 Ti4400, and running Windows XP Home Edition. Guest (0)
54155 2002-06-13 04:05:00 Marco, It's not normal...

Its usually incorrectly seated cable (or cable reversed, worst case bad drive)

Have a look at the following site:

Cheers, Babe.

54156 2002-06-13 05:19:00 From the specifications of you computer I guess that it is fairly new and therefore likely to be still in the guarantee period.

It is definitely *not* normal for the LED to be on all the time. It's 'back to the shop' time. Call them first, they will probably only need to have the computer box --- you won't have to lug your monitor and other accessories in.

(If you built it yourself, ignore the above, and plug the cable in the right way --- there are two rows of pins; one is all 'earths', and if you get it the wrong way round it earths all the signal lines. Fortunately, it is non-destructive).

Self-help and DIY is great, but not on brand new stuff which *should* work. That's what the guarantee is for.
