54286 2002-06-13 22:33:00 I am looking for a simple program to decode the MIME Base64 format in which some files in binaries newsgroups are encoded. I run FreeAgent, which can decode UUendoded binaries automatically but not Base64.

All I find on the web are:
(1) 'here is a Perl script which you just insert into....' Sorry, I gave up programming a long time ago. I want something complete, ready written and foolproof to use from Windows (XP).

(2) Here is a program to decode base 64...followed by a 'download' link that either:

is a dead end.

or

leads to a downloadable archive whose 'install.exe' or whatever portion fails to work!

What is the big secret about Base 64?

PLEASE someone point me to a working program. Preferably some kind of plug-in for Free Agent (there doesn't seem to be anything of the kind on the ForteInc site). But a stand-alone program will do.

Thanks

54287 2002-06-14 00:40:00 You could have a look at this site which has a base64 utilities package. I used to use this and other Dos based programs when my old email program only handled uuencode and not mime.

You will most probably find 'lots' of base64 decoding programs, in the simtel/msdos archives at www.simtel.net

The layout of the site now means you have to work hard to find things, but they should still be there. Assuming that is, you are happy with dos. You could also look in the /win95 section and see if there are any windows based decoders too.
Cheers
