| 54273 | 2002-06-13 22:13:00 | And the very dubious nomination for the award for the best spam ever goes to seekercenter.net for sending me this (screenshot of e-mail/ spam) www.something.net.nz It seems the spiders come in the night, check out the site, and then e-mail the site owner to say, 'sheesh, no listing with us, wanna throw some coin this way???' The senders name 'Vanessa' just happens to be my computers name, so i'll give them some points for getting a familiar name. How they got my e-mail remains a mistery, as it isn't on the page, or in the pages coding, and the spider looked no further than page one. (I checked the server logs) I love how they got a screenshot of the site they visited, and put it in the wee computer screen pictured on their e-mail! It's so cute. Love it.. this beats selling me a fortune through sound investment, big boy bits, big girl bits, viagra, porn, stooges, webhosting, protection, unlimited credit, and all the others i seen so far! Atleast this piece of spam had a bit of imagination, but no, i'm not sending money to china (the source of the e-mail, and the spider) for their services! Anyone got anything that could compete for the award? |

| 54276 | 2002-06-14 01:26:00 | You probable have spyware or a trojan which has given your email to a listbot. there is, of course pixelware, a single pixel on a webpage, which has ability to extract info and upload to remote host. You need; 1.Antivirus, updated daily. 2.Firewall (Zone Alarm is free for personal use) ZoneAlarm Pro is better, but costs you a few US$. 3. Adaware from <www.lavasoft.com> 4. Internet Sweeper from <www.bmesite.com set this as you prefer. Remember that 'cookies' or spyware etc can run later, and send info when you don't realise. It's surprising how much junk a machine accumulates. Cheers. |

While the spider the checks the site, another process does a 'whois' search, and emails the owner.. sneaky ey, but no viris needed Trustme seeing i run a webserver, i already have zonealarm, and NAV on my machine.
