54202 2002-06-13 06:49:00 Using Win2K server on single computer.
ADSL and on Internet all the time.
We tried WinXP as dual boot system, but this caused various troubles with other software.
We uninstalled XP and all back to normal except:
1. Still have XP option on boot option screen.
2. Norton Antivirus 2001 will not now 'RealTime Protect'.
3. Popup screen during Win2K boot says'Unable to run symevent'.
4. NAV 2001 still works OK on regular daily virus scan.
5. NAV still autoprotects emails during download of emails from the ISP POP server.
6. Symantec unable to assist usefully at this point.
7. Other software used is: Roxio GoBack Pro v 3.0 & ZoneAlarm Pro v3.0.
8. Unfortunately did not realise NAV problem for several days, and cannot use Roxio Go-Back as would lose files altered in interim.
If able to advise how to (correctly) remove boot option screen, this should hopefully fix NAV problem ????
I appreciate I will need to re-instal NAV & all downloads to get up to date.
Thanks for help.

54203 2002-06-13 09:17:00 This site will help you.

www.anandtech.com

Before I found this site, I went to system properties/advanced/startup & recovery and set the time to the minimum. That way you never saw the option for which system to boot up with, even though it was still there.

Hope this is some help.

54204 2002-06-14 10:02:00 You have go to use the recovery console which can be installed off the 2000 cd(do a search about it in help. This will give you another option when you boot. When there use the option to fix the MBR(do another search in help) Guest (0)
