54157 2002-06-13 04:01:00 I recently purchased a 40 gig hard drive. When i tried to auto-detect in the BIOS (AMI) my machine just hung and I had to restart. I reset jumpers on hard drive to 32 gig setting and I can now see 32 gig any time I try and autodetect the full 40 it just hangs. Is this a BIOS limit? What should I do? Guest (0)
54158 2002-06-13 09:40:00 Quite likely a bios limit.

You could visit your mother board manufacturers website, or the bios manufacturer, and download a bios flash program to update it.

Or visit the hard drive manufacturers site, and see if they offer a utility to make your computer see the drive as a 40 gig.

Or get a newer motherboard.

Or stick with 32gig

Some food for thought.
