54147 2002-06-13 03:24:00 Everytime the printer is switched on the printhead is primed with ink. It seems that this uses the colour ink cartridge although the print default setting is set to black. How can the black cartridge only be used for this priming? Guest (0)
54148 2002-06-13 03:59:00 I have an old Epson b & w printer, and was advised by Epson to leave it connected directly to the power point and switched on all the time. This eliminates the the self-clean on at power-on (it happens only sometimes instead of every time) and reduces ink wastage. It also keeps the printhead slightly warm and is said to improve printing. Note that if you do this the 'On' light will switch off when the computer is switched off, but as long as it is powered on from the wall socket it remains in a standby mode. Guest (0)
