| 54330 | 2002-06-14 03:03:00 | why cann't I 'find', by using the Windows 'Search' function in XP/Home, the *.dbx files that are the OE6 folders? I have turned on 'display all files' in the Folder Options, but cannot find *.dbx's or any unique OE6 folder name. The real question is what is the best way to back up all OE6 messages and address book? |

| 54331 | 2002-06-14 03:25:00 | Alan, From within OE6 click on TOOLS |OPTIONS | MAINTENANCE | STORE FOLDER this will point to the location of your OE6 message stores. (Where those dbx files are) It will show somethings similar to the following: C:\Documents and Settings\<YOURUSERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{YOURIDENT}\Microsoft\Outlook Express Cheers, Babe. |

| 54332 | 2002-06-14 03:43:00 | Alan, Part deux From OE6 help: To compact and back up e-mail folders Select an e-mail folder. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Compact. To back up the folder, find the folder file, and then copy it to a backup folder, floppy disk, or network drive. Outlook Express e-mail folders have a .dbx extension (for example, 'Sent Items.dbx'). See the previous post for locating your dbx files. Cheers, Babe. |
