54458 2002-06-15 04:11:00 Hi everyone, just got one snag with my pc. Ever since I got it, I was disappointed by it's poor performance in the memory sector. Now, it's not a slow computer (look below for specs) but the memory, as Gateway has told me should run at 133 MHz, for it's PC133. But my bios says it's running at 100MHz, and so does every other program.

Is there a way of tweaking the memory speed? Thanks.

Specs:

Athlon 1.1 T-bird
256 PC133 Memory
20Gig 4500RPM hard Drive
Geforce 2 GTS Graphics card
Sound Blaster Live! Value sound card
KT133 Appollo chipset
msi 1330 motherboard

54459 2002-06-15 05:28:00 theres normally a jumber on the motherboard to change it from 100 to 133 (thou sometimes its an option in the bios).

most people notice when it wrong because the pc would say that it has a 827~mhz cpu.

54460 2002-06-16 04:26:00 Don't know if it's of any use for your particular apollo chipset,But have a look for 'wpcredit' on the internet. It's for apollo chipsets, and Increased my memory speed by about 20%.You may have to look around a bit for the best settings.I used sysoft sandra, to compare the before and after benchmarks. It enabled 4 way memory interleaving, where before i only had 2 way, also allows you to tweak other settings. You don't have to be afraid of using it,as a reboot will clear any mistakes. When you have it right enter the information into wpcrset.

54462 2002-06-16 05:20:00 In BIOS is there a way to adjust it? ie. when it displays RAM @ 100mhz(default), change it to 133?

Please post back if this works.

54463 2002-06-16 05:30:00 Hi, and thanks for all the replies. I have tried the bios, but it seems that no tweaking can be done there.

I will give wpcredit a go, and I'll tell you guys what happens.

Cheers!
