1304428 2012-10-01 20:51:00 This happened after changing a graphics card out in a Windows 7 Pro 32 bit system. When the index is running, it skips over the graphics section very quickly.

I've cleared out the DataStore folder in the WinSat folder, see attached for the full error message that comes up when the WEI finishes. I don't really care that the WEI isn't working, but because the index hasn't been run, Aero cannot be enabled.

I've done a fair bit of googling, but haven't been able to find a fix for this particular issue.

Any help is much appreciated.

1304429 2012-10-01 21:10:00 Only time I've come across that problem is when building a new PC, or reinstalling - if you dont activate windows, it doesn't want to run the WEI.

Just doing some reading, does this have Kaspersky installed, there used to be a problem with that :2cents:

1304430 2012-10-01 21:33:00 Just reading one other person appears to have had the same problem after changing the Video Card. The fix for them was to run Driver Sweeper www.guru3d.com(no_installer),7.html Completely remove the the old Drivers and install new/fresh ones. wainuitech (129)
1304431 2012-10-01 22:36:00 I think driver fusion is the successor to driver sweeper (treexy.com). It may tell you this, if you install driver sweeper Speedy Gonzales (78)
1304432 2012-10-01 22:49:00 The one I linked to Driver Sweeper is a stand alone app, doesn't need to be installed. They both do the same thing.

Driver Fusion - you have to be careful as last few times I downloaded it (because I couldn't find where I had put Driver Sweeper on the server) :p Driver Fusion came pre bundled with the malware Open Candy.

1304433 2012-10-01 23:57:00 Thanks guys - Wainui I did come across the Kaspersky thing too - all NOD32 here so that's not the case, I even tried with NOD uninstalled just in case though. :p

We did move from a Quadro card (which died) in this PC, to a 7300LE (only needs to run two screens, nothing intensive) so there could be some Nvidia weirdness hanging around, I'll try driver sweeper.
I did also try removing the Nvidia drivers all together and letting windows install a driver (from windows update) but that had the same issue too.

1304434 2012-10-02 00:48:00 Driver sweeper is probably better, but the Nvidia Driver installer also has a clean install option which removes the old driver first as well.I was sure I'd had Aero running without windows re running the WEI after swapping the graphics card before. The only time I've had Aero not function is when the driver is not installed or not installed properly and hardware acceleration is therefore disabled. It all seems to point to the graphics driver to me. dugimodo (138)
1304435 2012-10-02 01:24:00 Just another possibility... if your BIOS has switched to using the onboard graphics during all this... maybe the new GFX card isn't actually being used at all. Does your signal cable currently attach to the new card? Paul.Cov (425)
1304436 2012-10-02 01:44:00 I've done the clean install option a few times now. :)

The signal cable does attach to the card. I might see if I can find a different card.
