1304239 2012-09-30 10:04:00 How do I save a Utube video for offline viewing? Is this legal? bk T (215)

1304241 2012-09-30 10:56:00 I used keepvid (http://keepvid.com/). A long time ago. It worked and was free.
I believe it's not illegal.

1304243 2012-09-30 20:27:00 I think the legality depends on the Video, if it's copyrighted material then it's undoubtedly illegal, on the other hand it doesn't seem much different than recording TV to watch later. Also Youtube obviously don't want you to download it which is why there is no default way. But yes there are plenty of ways and google would have found them for you. dugimodo (138)
1304244 2012-09-30 20:40:00 I use extendtube, a very nice addon for opera. Has not failed to download a single vid correctly so far. Nick G (16709)
1304245 2012-09-30 21:26:00 Or use FF and install one of the YouTube addons. Works for me. This way you can save it as a flv, MP3, or an MP4 file (with one of them anyway) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1304246 2012-09-30 22:06:00 There's an add-on for Firefox that downloads YouTube specifically (puts a download button under the video on the page) called Easy YouTube Video Downloader (addons.mozilla.org)

If you want something that works with more than just YouTube, Netvideo Hunter or Download Helper are good too.

Keepvid.com is great if you aren't using Firefox, but it does require Java.
