1303801 2012-09-28 06:39:00 swmbo attemted to send an email.
Came up with an error saying there was a problem with her address.
There was.
The .co.nz had changed to .co.na.
So had 2 other addresses on that system.
Have changed it back again & all is ok at present.
Question is, why

1303802 2012-09-28 08:27:00 Could have been a simple typo, Look at the keys, A is right above and to the left of Z - someone may have hit the wrong key, easy to do. wainuitech (129)
1303803 2012-09-28 08:48:00 Swmbo here

No, something had changed 3 different email address suffixes - these 3 email addresses had been working just fine until recently.

1303804 2012-09-28 10:29:00 Never seen a address change in the address book unless theres some sort of bug in the system.

As Far as I know there is no such .co.na

In all the years I been working with different people things like that have always been discovered to human error / typos or a failing Keyboard.

1303805 2012-09-28 11:50:00 Typos eh.
This was a fresh install at the begining of the month & my fat fumbling fingers are certainly capable of doing that.
But to make the same mistake in 3 separate addresses without spotting it, thats a worry.
Just checked & no emails have been sent in that time, but mail has been received by all addresses.

1303806 2012-09-28 22:19:00 Could be typos, then again it may be something else.

In the 17 years I been working with other peoples computers, I've personally never seen a Address in the address book change by its self. One thing that does happen a bit, is sometimes when people add in recipients from mail they receive, somewhere along the line a space or a . (dot) gets added by mistake.

One guy I know is sometimes complaining emails he sends bounce back yet the address is OK. I go around take a look, and sure enough, theres a space, or a letter missing, Eg: .co.n

This may or may not be the case here, just cant see any logical reason as to why only three would change. If it were an infection, they generally attack everything.

1303807 2012-09-28 23:04:00 .co.na (according to a quick google) is a Namibian domain

Virus?

1303808 2012-09-29 00:39:00 There was only 3 accounts set up.

Question:

If I did make a typo when it was setup, would it have received mail in that state for almost a month?

Just prior to this accuring, swmbo was attempting to send one of those talking birthday cards.
When she went to send it she was prompted for $$$$
She backed out at that point.
This would have been a couple of days before I found the problem.
I have since run antispyware over the system but nothing too major showed up.

Seems to be ok now.

1303809 2012-09-29 00:45:00 Receiving mail has nothing to do with how the address you may have in an address book. It would only effect sending out. wainuitech (129)
1303810 2012-09-29 01:07:00 Ok, we'll go with the typo. Driftwood (5551)
