| 1280244 | 2012-06-07 04:21:00 | My daughter, an intermediate teacher, would LOVE to have a class of 27.5. She would be ecstatic. She rarely - if ever - has a class under 30. That does not mean that she supports the government's silly idea. Far from it. But a smaller class would be nice. And she is not alone. Many teachers nationwide would love to have smaller classes. Unfortunately that is not reality. |

| 1280247 | 2012-06-07 04:43:00 | I'd consider that national were always willing to sacrifice this point, It was an easy focal point and a small sacrifice to get through the package. The education sector simply grabbed onto a issue that the public would support, overall its meaningless, It only concerns the ratio of funding in regards to the size of the role, It mostly has no effect on how bug class sizes are. Scolls will still allocate resources as required, some classes will be smaller 27.5, some will be bigger. Not a drama. What the education sector is upset about is moves to hold them to a higher standard, they want to be a law unto themselves and resent Government interference. |

| 1280250 | 2012-06-07 05:28:00 | Wonder why !!!! Have a primary school photo here: Std 1 with 41 pupils in it. Teacher was the Head Master and of course it was the year 1945. Earlier classes were 28, 25 and 32 respectively, which are more realistic, mind you it was during the WW11 period with fewer births taking place. Lurking. |

I partially agree, it was released to try and take the focus away from the asset sales. But it was more about closing technology blocks down than actual class sizes, still it has done what they intended all along which was to turn public opinion away from the asset sales issue while they push it through |
