1279650 2012-06-04 15:58:00 I've got a really great Ibanez AEB10BE-K ( . googleusercontent . com/-zm_Gc_rSN6k/TWFxLiUpSLI/AAAAAAAAHHM/iCd48IF6E88/s512/100_7643 . JPG" target="_blank">lh5 . googleusercontent . com) bass guitar (new: $399 . 99) and a TKL hardshell case ($139 . 00) and a Get'M Get'M strap ( . googleusercontent . com/-pvRB-MbFDMU/TQFwrQgt54I/AAAAAAAAHOk/WR3fMJHLgBc/s640/sxtvymlc . jpg" target="_blank">lh4 . googleusercontent . com) ($40 . 00) and I'm trading the whole setup for a new computer that's being built as we speak .

Now - used, the gear isn't worth the new price, but then again the guy who's building the computer for me really wants it badly .

Some of the specs so far for the new 'puter: (remembering that I'm not a gamer)

Motherboard with a - the name escapes me at the mo', but I think it's an Athlon, 4-core - is that about right?
Lots o' RAM - like 600G maybe
2- 1TB HDDS
New DVD R-W Burner/drive - w/a Blue-something or other . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
A DVD/Blue (whatever) ROM too - I insisted on a reader-only type too .
600Watt PSU
Super-dooper sound card w/7 . 1 - at my insistence . I have a 600 Watt self-powered subwoofie and 7 x 12" drivers that I want to push a little harder - the walls don't shake enough . (PS: don't live near me . )
USB 2s all over the place, and some that are also Blue-something or other too .
Max-o mighty (not a trademark) video card - another thing I insisted on - I like my DVDs .

I've finally decided ("had it", really) that with having my YouTube videos jumping and spooling and just not running well was too too aggravating any more . This came to obvious disclosure at one of the bass lessons I was giving to this 'guy' and he made the offer - I jumped on it .

Right now, when I go into Picasa and roll through my pictures, the audio will stop and start . Most annoying . I have no logical reason WHY a graphic program would interfere with an audio program - but that's gonna get fixed now .

I think the South Chip piezzo uber-driver core is overflowing - kinda like my toilet, but with less organic results . The aggravation factor was about the same though .

What I also insisted upon (among other things) is that somehow he uses my Enermax tower . I like it - it's black and has lights and is quiet . It has a neat-o blue fan on the side and a blue tube inside it to light up my feet - I like that!

Oh - and yeah -- I also get a new 2G RAM for my Asus Eee-pc too .

OK - I know youse guys are all amazed at my technical terms and descriptions - just be quietly amazed - OK?

1279651 2012-06-04 20:27:00 Nice trade, sounds pretty good. It's hard to assess value from here but it seems like a good trade. Blu-ray optical drives will let you step up from DVD's to the world of HD, get him to install the playback software that comes with them (or you can) in case you feel the need to try it. USB 3.0 ports are blue, and about 10x faster with supported devices so it's worth having some for future uses, backwards compatible too so you can use them as if they weren't blue.

If you want some feedback on the hardware choices get us the actual specs and I'm sure there are plenty of people with opinions around here somewhere.

Too many zeros?

D'ja ever get the 'good news --- bad news' --- one of those days?

I was on my happy way to Department Of Motor Vehicles to get my Montana driver's licenseat 9AM this morning, and at a 4-way stop sign --- Ker - BLAM!!!

I got rear ended. This time I don't think the tailgate on my Isuzu Amigo can get replaced. This is the third time it's been hit too!

An accident magnet, I swear. The woman who hit me admitted fault and told the Highway Patrol the same thing too - so nothing comes outta my pocket.

1279655 2012-06-05 00:23:00 Ouch, it's an added bonus of always having a towbar that anyone who rear-ends me usually tends to do more damage to their own car than mine. In NZ the person who does the rear-ending is always at fault, the law says you have to be able to stop short of the vehicle ahead. A fact that one guy tried to take advantage of some years back by disabling his reversing lights and backing up motorway offramps, turns out the police aren't that stupid.

As for the RAM, 6GB is possible, as is anything up to about 16-32 on most current motherboards.
