1279448 2012-06-04 08:40:00 I've been a banker (a couple of times, actually - in the days when selling wasn't the main part of the job!), a confectioner, a motorcycle courier (London and Auckland), then worked in IT (primarily as Test Analyst/Manager):
at a power company (or two),
short-term IT contract at Fonterra,
The Warehouse (HO),
a credit card division of a major bank,
SX Hospitals (HO),
a consumer finance company

Currently working for a consultancy who have clients in government agencies, power companies and telecommunications and who specialise in billing systems, revenue protection systems and data migrations.

And on the side (in my spare time - HA!), I advise friends and family on their IT choices and build websites, and pretend I can ride a bike and play golf (not at the same time). Truth be told, the golf is better than the cycling at the moment....

1279453 2012-06-05 00:47:00 Wasn't sure I should mention mine, sometimes I have to be careful how or if I answer questions here because of it.

I work in Telecommunications (qualified as a technician in the 80's), for a long time I installed exchange euipment including the exchange and cabinet mounted ADSL gear and various other telco equipment,
for a couple of years I also did faults (hated being on call)
Then I moved into design, basically the paperwork associated with what I used to do
for about a year after being made redundant I worked as a security guard and then as a service station attendant for caltex
Now I'm back on Telcommunications as a designer for a different company.

Computers are just a hobby I've had since my first commodore 64 once upon a time. Load"*",8,1 anyone?
