If you expect your house to be dryer after you get one you won't be disappointed. While that may make the house feel warmer it isn't going to make much difference to the temperature of the house but I still reckon they are way over priced. |

Yep that's what I have, a log burner and distribution system with one fan takes hot air above the fire to the bedrooms. Took a few hours to get the flow right to the furtherest way bedroom by gating off earlier streams a bit. Powered by manuka which we are allowed to stihl up now mayor clown Harvey has gone. |

| 1280336 | 2012-06-08 07:15:00 | Well Kiwi's are better in the snow than the English when it snows there the whole country comes to a standstill . Haha thats classic! Not from my experiance . Over here the kiwis are pretty quick to close Highways as soon as a thin dusting appears . In England or I should say Britain they are not so quick to close the roads until the snowploughs get stuck! I had to laugh last year being told it was to dangerous to drive on a highway I had already driven on because I passed a Road Block no where near where we lived or close to the problem snow area . Laugh because I was working driving up and down the ski access roads for a living . Funniest line came from our employer! He told my wife she need not come into work because the road was dangerous yet I had to because I had a bus to drive, lets put it this way I had fun that day . Now talking of the cold in the UK we had brick houses and central heating unlike the wood shacks here and pretty much guarenteed a week in the winter where the temperature would not go above freezing during the day . Find me somewhere in NZ like that? |

Find me somewhere in NZ like that?Nothing unusual for Central Otago to go a week or longer without making it to 0, sometimes it warmed up to -3 during days of hore frosts. Try digging the spuds when the first 4 - 6 inches of ground are frozen permafrost, you have to use a pick or crow-bar. :) | Iantech (16386) | ||

One place I was at we put a piece on the the fire about 300mm long by 200mm in circumference and five days later it finally petered out. Cold winters day and you could lean on the outside of the chimney and get warm. It is a bit like smelting coal. |
