1279861 2012-06-06 03:55:00 It is starting to get serious - the guy next door has been up on his roof trying to clear his Sky dish! And we keep having short power outages. This is the biggest snowfall I can recall in North Canterbury. John H (8)
1279862 2012-06-06 04:00:00 The iconic raining day in Welly. I prefer my Dunedin days than this here. I dislike the moisture. Rather it snow without this humidity. Nomad (952)
1279863 2012-06-06 04:14:00 I wish you did share the wind Gary. I have a garden shed destroyed, a gate post broken off just above ground level (I know how much concrete I put in that hole, now will have to dig it out) and the post on the other side had the gudgeons smashed out the side. A few shrubs look a bit sad too. wotz (335)
1279864 2012-06-06 04:18:00 Few pics from around uni, first one is out my window about 2 hours ago and the rest were around 9ish this morning on our way over to the gym. Been snowing heavily since then and it's got much deeper! Around ankle deep if I'm wearing my boots! They've cordoned off parts of the uni but I might go out for a walk later and try get some more photos.

(Only got my phone camera so photos aren't the best)

Roads are basically covered now too, unless you've got a 4WD I think driving is out of the question.

How deep is the snow if you aren't wearing your boots? Intrigued.

Should probably update my info then, I'm in Christchurch! Just went for another walk, it's got much much deeper since this morning when I went out, struggling to type as my hands are still numb. Theres a fair few branches down around the uni area, especially through university drive.

1279869 2012-06-06 06:38:00 So you are in chch - thought photos looked familiar. Is the first one taken from maidstone rd? And the others from Ilam rd? Like the one of the law building and the one of central library. Nick G (16709)

Yep first ones on Maidstone road (cnr of Maidstone and Ilam) and all the rest are down Ilam then through University Drive past the law building etc.
