1279364 2012-06-03 17:09:00 Fascinating looking at your location on Google Earth Joe . Those are pretty rugged mountains either side of the valley . Bet Gene Autry made no movies there . Champion couldn't have handled the terrain .

Lewis & Clark * ( . wikimedia . org/wikipedia/commons/6/6c/Map_of_Lewis_and_Clark%27s_Track%2C_Across_the_Wes" target="_blank">upload . wikimedia . org tern_Portion_of_North_America%2C_published_1814 . jp g) (No - not a dancing team out of Sheboygan ( . sheboygan . org/)) traveled through here, exploring the new purchase for the US and left a lot of sites to discover and visit . My wife and I are going to follow The Nez Perce Indian Trail (http://en . wikipedia . org/wiki/Nez_Perce_National_Historic_Trail" target="_blank">www . sheboygan . org/)) traveled through here, exploring the new purchase for the US and left a lot of sites to discover and visit . My wife and I are going to follow The Nez Perce Indian Trail (http:) (click on map to see where we live) - lead by Chief Joseph ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Chief_Joseph" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) when they were run out of Idaho and just wanted to live, alone and safe in Canada .

They actually wanted to live with another Indian Nation: The Lakota, in Canada which had promised the Sioux Tribes ♠ ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Sioux_Indians" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) total security if they didn't create a problem while there . These same Indians who had just wiped out General Custer in The Battle Of The Little Bighorn ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Little_Bighorn" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org), where there was only one or two (as I believe) US Army survivors - although they barely lived after they were scalped .

EXCERPT:: The Battle of the Little Bighorn, also known as Custer's Last Stand and, by the Indians involved, as the Battle of the Greasy Grass, was an armed engagement between combined forces of Lakota, Northern Cheyenne and Arapaho people against the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army . The battle, which occurred on June 25 and 26, 1876 near the Little Bighorn River in eastern Montana Territory, was the most famous action of the Great Sioux War of 1876

The Nez Perce forced sojourn through The Bitterroots ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Bitterroot_Mountains" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) - and Lolo ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Lolo_Pass_" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org(Idaho-Montana)), Stevensville, Hamilton, etc . , was fraught with The Army and Volunteers pursuing them every step of the way until they met at The Big Hole ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/Big_Hole_National_Battlefield" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) where a big battle ensued with heavy losses on both sides .

. . . look where the pole is standing .

* - This originally drawn map shows the details of the Lewis & Clark Expedition, and you can see the town in which I live on the map at about 46ºN and 33º as they figured the longitude from Washington DC as a starting place, in a Loxodromic Value .

NOTE::: Where that 33º line crosses The Missouri River, is where the city of Missoula now exists .

NOTE::: Hon'orde C(reek) is now called 'Skalkaho Creek' , and is directly to my south by about 1/2 mile . I have already been to the falls up on that creek to the top of The Sapphire Mountain Pass ::: . wikipedia . org/wiki/Skalkaho_Pass" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org and that creek is running full-bore, as it was when we were here in the last of Fall, the driest part of the year before snows .

♠ - The Sioux Indians were a conglomeration of many other tribes so co-named that haven't held much interest to most people . These include:::

The Lakota (pronounced [laˈkˣota]; also known as Teton, Titunwan ("prairie dwellers"),[1] Teton Sioux ("snake, or enemy") are an indigenous people of the Great Plains . They are part of a confederation of seven related Sioux tribes, the Oceti Šakowiŋ or seven council fires, and speak Lakota, one of the three major dialects of the Sioux language .

The Lakota are the western-most of the three Sioux-language groups, occupying lands in both North and South Dakota . The seven bands or "sub-tribes" of the Lakota are:

Sicaŋǧu (Brulé, Burned Thighs)[1]
Oglala ("They Scatter their Own)[1]
Itazipco (Sans Arc, Without Bows)[1]
Huŋkpapa ("End Village,"[1] Camps at the End of the Camp Circle)
Miniconjou ("Plant beside the Stream,"[1] Planters by the Water)
Sihasapa ("Black Feet")[1]
Oóhenuŋpa (Two Kettles)[1]

Notable persons include Tataŋka Iyotake (Sitting Bull) from the Hunkpapa band; and Tašuŋke Witko (Crazy Horse) from the Oglala band, Maȟpiya Luta (Red Cloud), Heȟaka Sapa (Black Elk), Siŋte Gleška (Spotted Tail), Billy Mills and Touch the Clouds from the Oglala band .

Here's another set of (Google Hacks) satellites, aerial maps and US Geological presentations (plus MANY others) of the area in which I live::: . org/~geohack/geohack . php?pagename=Hamilton,_Montana&params=46_14_54_N_114_9_35_W_type:city" target="_blank">toolserver . org

I really enjoy doing this research for youse guys - and although I (think) I know most of the salient facts, there is a lot of myth and just generally bad press on both sides of the Indian issue, still even to this day .

Personally I think the US Army and The President in fact, were acting badly here and the Indians were not at fault with the lies and double-dealing with them by The President and The Bureau Of Indian Affairs . I have this feeling on a Tribal- or Indian Nation-By-Indian Nation basis, as I have seen US Indians who are nothing but welfare recipients and who are even eschewed and hated by most other Indian Nations .

Hopefully this is of 1) interest, and 2) value to youse guys .

Some of my other favorites are the Frizzels, the Araucana and the Jersey Giants (jersey-giant.chicken-for-sale.info). I've also had Australorps and Sex Links and some African geese (www.ashtonwaterfowl.net) and a few Rouen ducks (images.canadianlisted.com).

The last of my first batch of Polish died at the age of 7 years.
