1304687 2012-10-07 02:13:00 Hi Paul,

Just one more thing. So everything is working as it should except the 'hide duplicates' property doesn't seem to apply in Print Preview like it does in Report View. Any idea what could be causing this?

Report View (working):
4364

Print Preview (not working):
4363

Thanks again.

1304688 2012-10-07 06:59:00 Well, if I had to guess, I'd still say the Hide Duplicates property of the Category field is still set to No.

Otherwise I don't know, unless there's something silly like a leading space in front of one of those entries of "Car".
"Car" <> " Car".

If it were up to me, I'd remove the Date, Category and SubCategory fields from the Sub Category Header section, and paste them into the same locations in the Detail Section, so that they're all in the same line as the Amount figure. It'll eat a lot less space this way (note: size the Date Header, Category Header and Sub Category Header sections to zero... just position the mouse at the bottom of each section to get the resizing pointer thing, and drag the base of each section up to the top of each section.

The sections must be empty to allow this.

1304689 2012-10-07 07:55:00 Category and Sub Category are definitely set to 'Hide Duplicates' because it works in the Report View.

The details section is empty as it is because I only want the summary in this report.

Not sure why (or how) there can possibly be a difference between report view and print preview.

I can PM you the DB if you would like to have a play with it.

1304690 2012-10-08 00:41:00 I'm happy to have it attached to a PM (if that's possible).

I'm on Office 2007, so if yours is in a newer format you'll have to export it into an older format before sending it.

I do seem to remember reading ages ago that the Fast Preview option cuts out processing of some features, (for speed of rendering a sample), so can give different results from the more formal Preview and Report screens, so maybe it's just a quirk of the Quick Preview thing.

Whatever. Feel free to chuck me a copy.

1304691 2012-10-08 03:27:00 Hey, I got your file, but it's in .accdb format, so I can't open it.

I need it in .mdb format.

I might have put you crook about how to convert it.

It used to be under Tools > Database Utilities > Convert Database > To Access 2002-2003 format.

Make sure to keep a copy of your current one before attempting a conversion.

1304692 2012-10-08 08:13:00 Hmm, it won't let me because it must be using some new features. Access 2007 should be able to open a .accdb file though? WarNox (8772)
1304693 2012-10-08 20:16:00 I'm on Office 2003, with no plans to upgrade! Paul.Cov (425)
1304694 2012-10-08 20:44:00 I see, above you said you were on Office 2007 :) I'll see if I can find a way to convert the DB. WarNox (8772)
1304695 2012-10-09 02:31:00 Yeah, sorry. I lose track, what between work and home and another DB I maintain for a local manufacturer... all on different versions of Office.

If it was up to me I'd still be happily using Office 97. I only scored 2003 as the manufacturers mentioned above gifted it after porting my DB to 2003 and still wanting me to maintain it for them.

1304696 2012-10-09 10:02:00 Well I tried removing all the basic things I could think of but still no luck. I can't be bothered going through the VB code to figure out what it doesn't like.

Thanks for all the help anyway!
