I took the phone back to the repair centre, and they found that there was a short in the PCB, causing the phone to draw 40mA in the "off" state (what's the usual figure?).

1304501 2012-10-11 20:13:00 Good they found the fault. You could work it out, charge fully and leave it running until depleted. Do this several times to get an average run time then divide the capacity by average hours

Eg on a battery 1600mAh battery with an average standby time of 27 hours = Approx 59mAh standard draw. If this battery was shorting at 40mAh + 59mAh then you battery is expected to last 16hrs. Given that you were using it I'd expect the battery to be lasting about 5 hrs given moderate usage. Depends what services were running etc.

You could also hook up an ammeter, probably be easier :p
