1279842 2012-06-05 23:06:00 Light -1 degree frost with no sign of the snow that was forecast in Invercargill. Our first frost for the year. Blue sky with some cloud and little wind.

I picked most of the tomatoes yesterday and took them inside. Quite unusual for tomatoes to still be growing outside this late in the year.

1279843 2012-06-05 23:24:00 Heavy rain overnight here in Woodend (North Canterbury, about 2-3km inland from the sea), but sometime after 5.30am it started snowing, and it is now falling steadily and there is quite a deep layer on all surfaces. I have had to go out and unburden the feijoa and lemon trees before the branches break. I understand that both Lewis and Porters Passes are closed. John H (8)
1279844 2012-06-05 23:27:00 barameric pressure is 998 here, still blowing like hell with showers. Not cold at all though and yes Lewis pass is closed gary67 (56)
1279845 2012-06-05 23:40:00 OK in Welly area at the moment - as in no rain. Unfortunately not great Transit of Venus watching weather - I have no real idea where the sun actually is right now. The ingress has already occurred from this vantage point, apparently. MushHead (10626)

1279849 2012-06-06 00:43:00 Well, it has been snowing here for 6 hours now without a break - no wind, and extremely heavy cloud cover, so it looks as though the thing is parked over us, and we won't see the Transit either. John H (8)
1279850 2012-06-06 00:48:00 Damp this morning, just cloudy at present. 15 degrees when I got up at 5:50am.
Expected high 19 I think it was said, fairly warm out there anyway....
