| 54620 | 2002-06-16 08:36:00 | I've got another Q. About 1 boot in 3 I find that my screen colour has changed. I do Control Panel/Display/Settings to find my colour has moved from Highest 32bit to lowest 8bit. I reset it & ok till next boot or two. Whats happening? Am on XP, 128ram (yeah I know it's too small, so is this pensioners wallet!!), 1400 Athlon. Any ideas? Thanks. John M | Guest (0) | ||
| 54621 | 2002-06-17 04:00:00 | I am assuming you are the same John S who recently posted a request for a way to print # from the keyboard. People gave you Alt+0,1,6,3 from the number pad (needs Numlock on). I posted 2 replies about using shortcut key combinations (much quicker), the first of which suggested that # was in the insert symbols list. My 2nd post never appeared - it must have been eaten by the Pressf1 system for afternoon tea, although it apparently tried to make amends by publishing a 3rd post (about line justification) twice even though I only submitted it once. The # symbol is not included in the Symbols list of MS Word but you can set up a shortcut from there. Firstly, there is already a global shortcut for this symbol in Windows - Shft+Ctrl+Alt+4. This is a bit fiddly to execute but works in Pressf1, Word, Excel, Publisher and probably most Windows-based applications. In Word, however you can set up an easier one, but it works only in that app. From Insert Symbol, open the font dropdown list and select Oryx or any other font you choose that includes a # (only about half of them do). Then click on the Shortcut Key button and assign a key combination (eg Ctrl+Shft+4) to it. Close out to the editing window and you can then print # by simply pressing the chosen key combination. I like the Oryx style but you may prefer Tempus Sans or some other. H T H |
