54908 2002-06-18 03:00:00 I have a very important question to ask!!!

How far away is the new forum. This one is really starting to bug me. Is it just me or are the amount of broken links and blank pages on this site increasing. It's beginning to make me not want to come here. And I don't want that to happen.

Please don't take this as an insult or one of those annoying people that have nothing better to do but hurt people and there feelings.

54909 2002-06-18 03:07:00 I don't even think that robo knows how far away the new forum is. Bruce Buckman would know.

I am currently one of the beta testers in the new forums and we do not know how far away it is.

But I can say that the new forums will be a lot nicer and are not anonymous.

54910 2002-06-18 04:34:00 Nathan, this forum is about things that go wrong with (human designed and built) and (human built software).

The forum is software running software on hardware connected by networks, which is built from software running on hardware.

This is the *real* world. I imagine. So PressF1 isn't perfect. Like most things it sometimes doesn't work. In the nature of things, it doesn't work when it's most wanted.

The one attribute of software which will never be removed is: 'All known bugs are known'.

The new forum will be different. It will have new delights to offer, I'm sure. And new bugs.

The worst thing *people* can do is take computers seriously. If you can't keep the ability to laugh, don't ever use a computer.

54911 2002-06-18 09:05:00 What joy it has been testing the new forum, (yes, i'm a beta tester too) We been trying all sorts of things, testing, complaining, fixing, abusing the system, hacking into locked threads.. you name it. I think we have exposed most of the weaknesses and bugs, and the crew at IDG central have got them out. I can't say that the new forum will be bug free, this is the real world after all.
We (the test group) were probably picked because we would give it heaps, and we have. 'public release' will be soon, The party is allmost
over soon, as the job is allmost done.

54917 2002-06-18 22:01:00 LOL Say it again once more Chris?

Nathan hang in there, the wait will be worth it, I promise. Just give Bruce a bit more time to make sure he's satisfied with it and you'll be so pleased you did. It won't be long now I'm sure.
