54897 2002-06-18 01:03:00 Hi all,

I'm running IE6 and in the menu path: IE Tools> Internet Options> Connections> Settings
I've selected the 'Automatically detect settings' checkbox.

However I notice this is soon reconfigured (by something) to
activate the 'Use automatic configuration script' option, with the following address shown: 127.0.0.1:8080 in the address box.

When I checked further, this address reveals the following info:

function
FindProxyForURL(url,host){if(url.substring(0,5)==' http:')return'PROXY
127.0.0.1:8080';return'DIRECT';}

Can anyone interpret what is happening and need I be concerned? I haven't a
clue what it means.

Thanks and much appreciation.

54898 2002-06-18 05:55:00 Try contacting your ISP....I have seen this once before but can't remember what ISP the computer was connecting to? Guest (0)
54899 2002-06-18 06:25:00 Have you got Proxymitron installed? If so, it may be related to the settings that you set up with that installation. At least those are similar to the settings I have, and I have Proxymitron running.

Not a problem provided you run Proxymitron prior to trying to connect to an URL.

54900 2002-06-18 06:26:00 Thanks Darcy.

I've just discovered what it is. I'm using a prog called WebWasher which uses this proxy port to do its thing.

Cheers
