| 54855 | 2002-06-17 22:11:00 | Kenneth, 1. There have been a number of posts on how to remove the Messenger icon/program in XP. Do a search of PressF1 with Messenger as one of the key words. I think you'll find what you need. 2. You can load the Powertoys for Windows XP utility from a cover cd of PC World and use it to remove the balloon tips, OR the following KnowledgeBase article explains how to use REGEDIT the registry editing tool to do the same things. | 54856 | 2002-06-17 23:04:00 | Hi, The easiest way to prevent messenger from running, without slowing down Outlook Express (which happens if you edit the local policy) is this: simply rename the Messenger folder in Program Files to something else. eg. Messenger disabled If in the future you decide to use messenger you can simply rename the folder to its original name and it will run like before. dan t |
