55091	2002-06-18 22:27:00	Everyone knows that this forum is on its death-bed but PLEASE don't desert us!! The new forum isn't far away and you will all be very impressed with it and it will be worth the wait. They are working flat out on it and doing their best to satisfy most of the demands that the testers can throw at them. Just hang in there for a bit longer until Bruce is 100% happy that it will survive the critical masses. It won't be too long now. For this forum, Bruce says: 'It never use to be like this. The last 2 weeks it has just been constant. We don't know why it's getting hit so hard.' Start preparing for the wake.	Guest (0)

(Extract from my reply to Old timer follows) Don't forget, Press F1 is a no charge service voluntarily provided by PC World and not only have they invested enormous time in keeping the old girl up and running, an equivalent if not greater effort has gone into creating the new version which will be released soon. Stick around & check out the new version when it hits the road. You won't be disappointed. Beta testing is nearly finished but we are still finding the odd bug and adding refinements (at least the PCW staff are adding them, we're just trying to break it so that the end product is super-reliable) Cheers Billy 8-{)	Guest (0)
55093	2002-06-18 23:00:00	Yeah - hang in there folks. We'd like to go live this week but may not be able to if we don't get all the fixes done. For the record, it isn't poor old F1 here that is to blame. But traffic levels at night from search spiders (which do not obey things like robots.txt which are designed to tell them to go away) have gone through the roof. When they hit, they chew up the CPU power of the main server. When that happens the server times out on the Post requests and also cannot successfully generate the static HTML thread pages. The new forum runs on its own box, pretty much by itself, so should avoid these problems. Bruce Buckman IDG Communications	Guest (0)

She's been slaving away trying to break the new Press F1 (was the second to manage to hack it if I'm not mistaken) and can do without the off-target remarks. We are all spin doctors for Press F1 cos' we can see how much work Bruce and the Team at PCW have put into both the new and the old. All credit to them I say! Heck if you want a laugh then you definalty come here. No matter how much this old site is dieing I would never leave, now that I have found it. You think that you are excited about the new forum?? NOooooooooo You have actually got to see the new one. I haven't. The excitement and antisipation is getting harder and harder to bear. OHHHH I CAN'T WAIT. Keep up the good work everyone. ps. By the time you need beta testers for a newer version on PressF1 in about 10 or 20 years, I will be ready and willing, and you beta testers now... lol well what can I say lol Just kidding.
