| 55228 | 2002-06-19 12:18:00 | i have a avi file on my hard disk . i cant see a media player icon on that file , its treated as a unknow file format . to play it i have to right click on it and then choose media player from the 'OPEN WITH ' window but the problem is i cant tick the box which says: always open this program to open this file . it is grayesh and untickable can u plze help me out |

| 55229 | 2002-06-19 21:56:00 | Try the following. go into Windows explorer; go to View; Folder Options; click the tag File Types; Scroll down the list of files until you find Video Clip or anything else that has the extenstion of AVI. Then click on Edit...; In actions if there is something that says Open, select it and then click edit. then make sure in the 'Application used to perform action' make sure the following is stated 'C:\PROGRA~1\WINDOW~1\wmplayer.exe' /Open '%L' including the quotes. this will mean that you open the file with Windows Media Player. Then if there is the word Play in the actions select it and click Edit.. Then in the 'Application used to perform action' make sure the following is stated 'C:\PROGRA~1\WINDOW~1\wmplayer.exe' /Play '%L' With the quotes. Make sure that Play is in bold if it isn't click on Set Default. If either or neither Open or Play are in the Actions then click on New...; And in Action Type either Open or Play And then place what I stated above in Application used to perform action Hope this helps :) |
