55187 2002-06-19 10:46:00 'Best' is subjective. What Budget? Free; $100; $1000; more? Guest (0)
55188 2002-06-19 10:46:00 Photoshop <www.adobe.com PaintShopPro <www.jasc.com and the GIMP <www.gimp.com

GIMP is free.

Microsoft Photo Editor is good as well.

55189 2002-06-19 10:50:00 Was there no program bundled with your driver?

I got Ulead's IPhoto Plus4 bundled with mine which I find very good.

Don't think it's downloadable from Ulead's web site tho'.

55190 2002-06-19 10:54:00 If you have money to spend you could look at Adobe Photoshop or cheaper (much) is PhotoShopPro.

If you want something free you could try Ifran, a don't have a link but a search on google.com will point you in the right direction.

55191 2002-06-19 11:15:00 Hi Ray, Did you get any software with the scanner? I got Ulead Photo Express (with my scanner)and MGI Photosuite (with my digital cam). I find they are pretty similar really and cover the tasks you are looking for so i would recommend either - i have also heard praise through here about The Gimp and another one Ad? can't quite remember the name sorry?Anyway hope that helps. 55193 2002-06-19 13:17:00 If yer running windozzze, then ya already got one. Its called Pain(t). Its under start -> programs -> accessories.

Its small, so it loads fast. It doesnt supoort those nasty plugins, so there is no configuring to worry about. Its easy to use cos there are only 2 brushes (like who needs gazillions of brushes anyway?). You only have 1 undo so you don't have to worry about memory considerations. It only saves files as bitmaps (*.bmp) so you don't have to worry about converting between formats. But that's not all!

Its Free!*

*(with your purchase of any of Micro$oft's .)? Windoze .)? sloperating systems)

i have both the fullversion of adobe photoshop and paintshop pro.
i personally think adobe photoshop is the best software for photo manipulation because it is straight forward.
