| 55119 | 2002-06-19 01:13:00 | The only way I found to stop my modem sound while on the internet was to cut the modem speaker track. Correct driver and setup but the squeal continued after logon.Its quiet now but on some websites I get no sound from the main speakers when there should be. Will this still be a modem fault or IE problem? Its a Conexant. I get sound ok on bootup. Also has anyone got a Dynalink 1456VQH-R3 and is it a good modem. Thanks Ray |

| 55120 | 2002-06-19 02:05:00 | I have a Dynalink 1456VQH-R3 and find it is a very emperamentallittle modem, on my computer it kills the USB as soon as you try to dial (No USB device works until you reboot), on another machine it doesn't disconnect properly (sits there for a bout 5 minutes then disconnects), on a different machine again it causes the computer to pause every 3 or 4 minutes but after all that I have actually got it to run on a friends computer no problem. Dynalink have checked it out and found no fault in it. My opinion, avoid it.... On your sound problem, if its a Midi sound file in the website, make sure the midi side of things are installed properly. (Check by playing a Midi file on Windows sound recorder). |

| 55122 | 2002-06-20 06:07:00 | Cheapest external would be Dynalink or d-link brands (confusingly similar but separate brands) as far as I know. Beware USB externals as many may be winmodems in drag, the serial ones are always hardware modems. Older ISA slot (not PCI slot) internal modems are OK but few and far between now. |
